I do often experience, that Presentations uses up a lot of CPU. Even for very simple presentations (in native format) started from scratch.
CPU usage high even when application is minimized. Only way to bring usage down, is by closing and restarting Presentation application.
I will attach some zipped screen captures from process explore tool.

Can you give us a sense of what your computer specs are? I can't get anywhere near what your getting but it might be that we are running an entirely different set of specs.

Information on hardware and operation system can be found in attached zip file.
Presentation file open - is located on share on a windowd file server.
Presentation very simple, no fancy stuff like animations etc.

Thanks. We'll what the folks at SM think, but my "old" notebook doesn't have nearly the punch your's does and I'm just not getting what you're seeing. Can you upload one of the presentations that is costing so much CPU time? I would like to see if I can duplicate what you're encountering.

He's a couple of samples - again in zip format.
I don't think it - as such - has anything to do with the specific presentations.
I can reproduce, by just opening the presentation, make a few modifications and the just let Presentation open for a while.
Then after a period - don't know how long - the program starts using lots of CPU (utilize completely one core).
I'm using McAfee as antivirus, but there is no file activity at all.

Any ideas on how to identify if there's a conflict with other programs / services ??

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't realize that there was a delay before you experience the high use. I'll try that and see if I can duplicate it.

I don't know if I'm seeing what you're seeing. I see spikes up to 50%, but they then drop right back down. I understood that you were seeing sustained spikes??

Hi Jim

After a while, there is a constant CPU load of 50% (one core).
"Nothing" seems to be going one, no file activity (see screen captures in first zip), just a thread running wild.
I have attached a small flash movie, that shows the thread stack - maybe something for a developer to "get wise from".
Thanks for your support

Allan

Just a guess... does this happen after an autosave? (You can go to Tools/Options/Files and set a different autosave interval to verify if it is related).

We had something like this eons ago in TextMaker.
