I purchased the Ashampoo version of Office but suspect this is the proper forum to discuss this problem. As I recall, one of the strong suites of version 2010 was the Thesaurus. With TextMaker 2012 I have encountered problems. I'm a writer and check for synonyms often, and have found the thesaurus often displays unexpected and incorrect entries.
As an experiment I typed in ten words and checked them with the Thesaurus. With six words it was correct. With one word (down) it displayed several accurate entries but did not show 'direction', which is the most usual meaning for this word. For 'cattle' the synonyms appeared to be words using similar letters but none were correct. For the word 'Indian' the results were the same. I also tried 'jello' which is a name-brand for a dessert. This also failed to provide a correct answer.
I am using American English but encountered the same problem using the British version. Have I set something incorrectly? If not, is there a update planned to address this issue?
Thanks

Our thesaurus doesn't know the words cattle, Indian or jello. So it displays words that are at about the same position in the list.
It doesn't have the "direction" meaning of down. I will open an feature request to find a solution for these problems.

I tried these same words in my copy of TextMaker 2010. The results were the same. Funny, I'd thought the older thesaurus used a larger base of words. One thing I did notice - if a word is not recognized in TextMaker 2010 Thesaurus, under the heading 'Meaning' it clearly stated 'No synonyms found'. To avoid confusion I recommend you change TextMaker 2012 Thesaurus to include this statement.
I do like Office 2012 but a good dictionary with a large selection of synonyms is an invaluable tool for a writer. If you are looking to increase competitiveness with Microsoft Office, an overhaul of the dictionary/thesaurus would be a major step in that direction.
Thanks

Thank you for the hint! I informed the developers to fix this.
