This has been posted before but could not see solution.
Bank details are downloaded in .csv file which displays fine in excel but not in planmaker. I've attached screenshots of file in excel and planmaker
any solutions?

I have the same problem, which has not occurred in Open Office or LibreOffice even though they presumably share the same code. I can even open the files in Sidekick 98 without problems (yes, over a decade old).
I got round it by opening Planmaker, finding the file, changing the separator character to "comma" (the default is a backslash for some reason), and then continuing.
What a laborious route! Maybe someone will fix it eventually.

Thanks for the info nodrog, why would it be a backslash wouldn't that mean instead of a .csv file it would be a .bsv or bssv. file ? ;)

I am not sure I can follow you there.

When I open a CSV file in PlanMaker 2010, the import dialog comes up. There is a Separator option, and it defaults to "Comma". You can select from a number of different separators, including a user-defined one. Only if you choose user-defined will you be able to enter a backslash at all. But why should you? CSV files never use backslashes as separators.

So, what am I doing differently from you?

Hi Martin, the default on the import dialog is "user defined" on my software not comma that is one problem, the other as you can see in the screen shots is that the numeric values are bracketed with apostrophes which means I can't put a sum at the bottom of column B (looking at the first screen shot of a csv in excel) I've attached a screenshot of the default import dialog as it appears on my computer

I asked the developers for a solution and will report here as soon as we have more information.

There is a workaround:

1. system settings must be english
2. change separator to ','
3. change text mmarker to '"'

Sven, surely this is how it should have been programmed as the default in the first place? "Comma separated" implies commas, after all... No other spreadsheet has ever done this.
Would it be possible to fix it in an update, or will we have to buy 2012?

I asked the developers and will inform you as soon as I have an answer.

When importing csv file I've noticed that it works if you don't have space just before the coma.
Like this : " ,"
So use textMaker and replace " ," with "," .
space+coma with only coma
The numbers should work now.
