I'm using Planmaker 2010 rev 596. I have a simple spreadsheet that I created years ago in Excel and it has been working OK in Planmaker but yesterday, it keeps crashing, although Excel opens it just fine.

I've removed Planmaker completely and re-installed but the file still crashes. I've tried three other versioons of the file, saved in different locations on my laptop but they all fail.

I have added the file and I'm hoping that someone can tell what is going on?

Thanks.

PlanMaker 2010 (rev. 596) and 2012 did not crash when I opened your file with them. Does it crash on start or only when you click somewhere or copy some data?

Hello Sven, thanks for quick response.

Planmaker will open the file when I click on it, and sometimes it seems to open OK but as soon as I move the mouse it will crash. Or sometimes it will crash as soon as it opens. I've seen it open but every cell is showing the little triangle in the bottom right hand corner before it crashes. I've also noticed that if I start Planmaker, and then navigate to that file it just doesn't open at all!

I also just started to recreate the template again, but I get so far but when I try to 'fill down' so that the formula (for example) in the Total column increments the row and columns then it will crash again, and then when I close the program and click on the new template, then that crashes as well.

I'm getting the impression that I'm doing something wrong with the fill down, as above. It works when I use Excel but not Planmaker. Luckily I have the use of Excel on a friend's system.

What should I do to add each formula in the descending columns? It has been a long time since I used spreadsheets and I'm very rusty, although I can set up this little program in Excel. Having done that, it will crash if I open with Planmaker.

Thank you.

We can see no reason why your file should crash. We tried filling and opening but no problem anywhere.

The green markers appear when the sheet is protected. The developers removed the sheet and the workspace protection, maybe this works for you.

We need at least the crash address from the error message for further investigation.

OK, its good that it works OK for you! I just did a checkdisk (Win 7 HP 64bit) and that came out OK. I expect it is a fault on my system but so far, it is only showing in Planmaker.

I enclose a copy of the latest event log. The file that crashed in the new template, which is incomplete.

Thank you. I appreciate your excellent support.

Just noticed. I tried to send Event log file but got a message on this page 'The extension evtx is not allowed', but here is the text version:

I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea what is causing my PM file to crash by looking at the above fault printout?

I installed Libre Office and the file opened with no problems. Likewise, MS Office Stater 2012 also opened the file , no problem. Planmaker viewer fails in the same way as Planmaker but then I assume a lot of the code is the same.

If no-one can help with this I will have to remove Softmaker as if I can't use PLanmaker it is no good to me!

Thanks.

Here is the pmlog you requested.

I have also installed Softmaker on my test bed laptop, and the suspect file works fine on that as well, so, definitely my main system!

Thank you.

Ermm. Whenever I try to upload the pmlog file I get 'The extension.txt is not allowed'. How should I send this?

I have sent PM with log.

I've deleted pmlog, then run PM, opened the 'faulty' file which crashed, but no pmlog was created.

I don't know how I need to create this file again! I see nothing in the Help, regarding logfiles.

Thank you.

The problem has been solved and won't occur any longer in the next service pack.
