I had a working Softmaker Office 2010 for Linux installation of the previous service pack working on a Slackware64 13.37 installation. I am running the KDE desktop.

After installing Service Pack 596, I get the following error whenever I launch textmaker; planmaker and presentations fail with similar errors:
Code:
/usr/local/bin/textmaker: line 3:  6857 Segmentation fault      "/usr/local/share/office2010"/textmaker "$@"
I saw something about a crash with RedHat, so I tried to disable CUPS to see if that did anything, but it does not appear to have done anything. Running with the -debug option does not seem to create any log files. Running textmaker without the shell script to launch it I receive a "Memory fault" error. GDB gives a generic error when I run the executable there. Could anyone provide some ideas as to why the latest service pack has caused these issues?

Does a uninstallation, reboot and a complete new installation for SoftMaker Office 2010 help?

This does not fix the problem.

I referred that problem to our developers and will report here as soon as I have more information.

No, not yet. I raised the priority.

I have the same problem, which started when I upgraded to openSuse 12.1, also with KDE. I get the same error message. Has there been any action on this? Is there an edit we can make to the executable files?

Note: I didn't have any problems in the previous openSuse version, using Gnome.

I am using Salix 13.37 x64 with XFCE and everything is working fine. On your OpenSuSE box, have you tried Textmaker with a different desktop environment? What video card do you have and what video driver are you using?

I have used Textmaker with Gnome for years. I upgraded to the new openSuse, using the KDE desktop this time (I hate Gnome 3) -- and suddenly I get this problem.

My video card is nVidia NV17, and I'm using a generic vesa driver.

Sven,

I setup a VMware VM with OpenSuSE 12.1 x64 w/KDE and can reproduce the issue that xpacker is experiencing. I get a similar segfault error to arcfide with the exception of the PID and softmaker office path being different (I went with the default path).

Observations from troubleshooting:

1. Crash happens regardless of using the .rpm or .tgz installers.

2. With the .tgz installer, I first performed an all user install. After I could reproduce the crash, I uninstalled SoftMaker and then performed an installation for just my user account. Textmaker still crashes.

3. If I run TextMaker as root, there are *no* crashes.

4. I should clarify with each new install, TextMaker did start once so I could enter in my serial number, etc. Any new attempts to start TextMaker led to crashes.

I've installed rev 596 three times on two more machines, and here are the results.

* openSuse KDE on Acer Aspire 3935-6504 laptop: segmentation fault
* openSuse XFCE on Acer Aspire 3935-6504 laptop: segmentation fault
* openSuse XFCE on Asus EEE 900HA netbook: successful run of Textmaker, Presentation, and spreadsheet

I was thinking it was a KDE issue, but I'm also getting a seg fault in XFCE.

It would be interesting to see log files from TextMaker. You get them by running TextMaker with the -debug parameter:

./textmaker -debug

This should create the file tmlog.txt in the SoftMaker folder below your home folder. Could you e-mail it to forum (at) softmaker.de ?

Actually to all of you, even including the initial poster.

Without the log file, we don't even know where it crashes during startup.
