The trial version sets it to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Utilities\SoftMaker Office 2010 (Trial)\", but shouldn't it be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Utilities\SoftMaker Office 2010 (Trial)\inst\mydoc\Templates 2010" ?

The template folder should be in C:\users\%yourname%\Documents\SoftMaker\ but not directly in the installation folder in C:\Program Files (x86).

This is another issue due to installing as Admin, but running as standard user. My admin account has the folder C:\Users\<AdminUserName>\SoftMaker\ , which has the following sub-folders: Bullets, Designs, Samples, Settings, Templates 2010\English . However, the standard user account does not have this SoftMaker folder, and when TM is started from the standard user account, the template folder defaults to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Utilities\SoftMaker Office 2010 (Trial)\".

You can move the templates folder to another location and adjust the path in Tools > Options..., tab "Files".

That's what I've done. I was just reporting it to be fixed.

If you install as admin and run as normal user, TextMaker should copy the templates from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Utilities\SoftMaker Office 2010 (Trial)\inst\mydoc\Templates 2010" to "C:\users\%yourname%\Documents\SoftMaker\Templates 2010" the first time you start.
It should tell you that TM was not correctly installed and do this stuff for you. After that, the template folder should be "C:\users\%yourname%\Documents\SoftMaker\Templates 2010".

I got the dialog saying it wasn't correctly installed, with checkboxes for associating with a few formats, but the template folder was not copied (as mentioned in my first post, it just defaults to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Utilities\SoftMaker Office 2010 (Trial)\inst\mydoc\Templates 2010"). However, I will test once more, just to be sure.
