Hi All

Am new to Softmaker 2010, just trying it on a recommendation. I have hit a snag which I can't sort. Can you help?

When I Insert_Envelope from the main menu, I have to move the position of the Recipient Address. This is because I am a UK user and we a) don't use the sender address on the envelope b) The Recipient Position (for envelopes in the UK) is well to the left of centre of the envelope.

When I make this adjustment the envelope prints fine, but the Recipient Position then returns to a sort of "Default Position" when I start another envelope, which is somewhat tiresome.

Question

How can I make the Recipient Position stay permanently on my settings until I change them again.

Thanks

Terry

Hi Sven-1

Thank You for the prompt response to the above problem.

First, I really do like Softmaker, in my view highly underrated by the pundits who review the likes of OpenOffice.

I installed the Hotfix which unfortunately does not appear to make any difference.

A little more information for you. I am using Windows 7 64bit. The problem manifests itself whether I choose to Print the envelope (After Insert_Envelope) or if I choose Append the Envelope to a current document.

When either of these action take place almost invariably the Recipient Position "defaults" back to 11 cm, that is half of the width of a DL 110 x 220 envelope

I hope you can figure out what the problem is, and I will do anything to help.

Thank you

Terry

Terry,

I cannot reproduce this problem here with TextMaker 2010 in WindowsXP. It's probably a problem with Windows7. Our developers will investigate this problem and I will inform you here as soon as I have more information.

Can you please attach an small example file? Maybe it happens for some envelope sizes only. Thank you!

Let me know and I will send it straight away

Thanks

Yes, just a TextMaker file where you set the measurements for the envelopes. Does the problem happen with every file (also completely new and empty files)?

Hi Sven-1

I have attached two files (Textmaker) Sample1 and Sample2.

The first (Sample1) is simply a blank A4 document to which I Appended an envelope.

In this sample the Recipient Position was amended by scrolling the "Left Position" from 11cm to 6.1cm thus moving the Recipient Position to the left hand side of the Envelope.

The file shows this was actioned correctly and the position DID NOT revert to default ie 11cm.

Immediately following this I generated another A4 document (Sample2) with a jumble of letters to simulate correspondence. I then Appended another envelope to it with the retained settings as before ie Left Position 6.1cm (Default 11cm)

This was actioned correctly, BUT when I tried the same actions again ie To produce another (3rd)document with an envelope appended. The position had reverted to 11cm.

Hope this is clear without being complicated

Terry

Our developers solved this problem. It seems that some Values were not stored at all. This issue will no longer occur in the next service pack. Thank you for your help!

Hi Sven-1

I tried the Hotfix 7223, but it does not appear to work. My methodology was exactly the same as last time.

1) new document then added the envelope from Insert_Envelope, set the recipient position at 6cm then added address, then append to document, then shut down.

2) Did this twice, each time the Recipient Position of 6cm held, BUT on the third time it reverted back to 11cm. Exactly as before

3) Repeated the whole process again to make sure.

So it seems that the repositioning holds for two appends then reverts

Hope this is clear

Terry

Hi Sven-1

I downloaded Hotfix 6673 this am and IT APPEARS TO WORK FINE. As far as I was able I gave it a really rigorous testing in two modes (Append and Printing) and in each case there was not one failure to stick to the changes that I made.

I made sure that I went well past the three Appends/Printing cut off to ensure that the changes "stuck". In all cases they did.

Should anything materialise in due course I will report back.

Thank you again for your prompt attention

Terry
