I don't know if there is some setting I have to adjust or if I am using the search-and-replace facility somehow incorrectly but I seem to be finding that, when I press Ctrl-H and then enter a search string and a replacement string and then click <Replace all>, TM only finds and replaces the first occurrence, then stops and reports it has made 1 replacement. This behaviour is exhibited in a large document (100pp plus graphics), which also triggers frequent "Out of memory" error messages if I have any other windows open when using it on a 1GB laptop. I don't know if it always occurs in all documents.

The strange thing is that, in typing this report, I have just re-tried the above and it worked correctly, replacing all cases when I did a small test. I then retried in in the large document. Again, correct action.
I am not, however, imagining what I describe above. This was in a small document of 2pp of text only.
If I find out more I'll report again.

I concur with Jon when using the dialog from the menu it is the same. I wondered what was wrong until I spotted John's post.

Sven, I just can't send you the document in which this has occurred because it is a legal report for use in expert evidence in a many-million dispute before the British High Court and I am not allowed to disclose any part of it to anyone other than those instructing me.

I can't even alter it to conceal all the sensitive information because even that would take far too long. What I'll try to do is to watch out for an example of this happening in a document I am allowed to send you, and I'll look for more clues about the type of behaviour.

The last time it happened, I was doing a search-and-replace to change all cases of, MornHR into, just HR .
(I have had to change the letters here because they spelled someone's name but the number of letters and text style are correct).

TM found only the first occurrence.

In the same long document I had previously had strange things happening, which I assumed were my own fault.

For example, one particular word that had appeared in previous search-and-replace tasks was the word, "augered". I have subsequently found the word, "augeredaugered" in the text in several places. This MIGHT simply be a mistake of my own - I can't be sure. I report it only in case it is a useful clue.
