Unable to find when exactly it happens. Edits are done by me which probably involve changing colour or font for a small piece of text. When viewing other parts of the document changes have occurred in font and colour in apparently random places.
Clicking on the document and changing a single character (delete, type, add space) reverts the document to normal and errors are gone.
This has happened very often and in totally different documents.

I noticed for the first time I got an out of memory error (not related?) today. With 4gb it would seem that it is possible that there is a memory leak and it may well cause some other weird random happenings.

I am also facing the same problem of Textmaker editing the documents by itself --I hope developers will fix this issue ASAP, otherwise. Unless this issue is fixed Txmaker 2010 is not useful for any serious writing projects.

I, too, recognise this strange quirk. I have not yet discovered exactly what it is that happens because it is so transitory and its difficult to pin down exactly what is occurring but my impression is that, when it occasionally happens, generally in long, complex documents, it does so exactly as described by your correspondent with no name, "DoNone".

I don't agree that it leaves TextMaker 2010 unsuitable for any serious writing projects because I am in fact using it for exactly that, but is a hindrance for sure.

Hello,

are you all working with the latest rev. 576 (Help=>About)? Which Window (2000, XP, Vista or 7) are you using?

Ok, thank you! I've forwarded this problem to our developers and will inform you here as soon as I have more information.

I am using Txtmaker 2010 version 576 on Windows 7 Home Premium.

John might have a better luck with long documents. I am working on a 32 page manuscript and so far at least 10 or 12 times, I have to fix the self edits done by the software. I noticed that most of the time it's self editing the smart text entries, superscript etc. If one do not have to send it out for review it is not a big issue, otherwise it is nightmare. For the time being I am switching back to Txtmaker 2008 until developers fix this issue.

@John: I note your choice for my 'no name' was DoNone. Was that Freudian? It is actually a name, try DonOne or could be pronounced Don Juan in Spanish.

Unfortunately we have problems to reproduce this problem here. Can anyone please attach a small sample file or send it to forum(at)softmaker.de? Thank you!

I have been trying various edits to reproduce this quirk. It seems impossible to do it to order.
The only clues I can add are that the last time it happened the file was 15Mb, contained pictures with arrows and text boxes added in colour and an Arial font then grouped.

The result when it happens seemed to involve some text in parenthesis which was italic, which changed font to Arial, changed colour to match that in text boxes and most important it added some spaces in the text and changed it to superscript. The changed text was further back in the document and was chance that I spot it. It can occur in more than one place at a time.

The cure is to click in the changed text and press a key. Everything goes back to normal.

If it happens I will send a file but don't hold your breath.

Additional information. This just occurred again.
I was editing a styled paragraph. Highlighting it of course changed the style as mentioned in another post.
I changed the selected text back to the original style and then set it to red.

That changed some text further up the previous page to red and superscript. I had a date within that text with superscript suffix... 21st. The 1 was red but not the rest. Then the remaining text was changed.

I saved the file instantly. Upon re-opening there was nothing wrong! So you will not get a sample I am afraid.

It is to do with selecting text (drag drop editing?)
Removing a space from anywhere within the corrupted text instantly puts everything back.
It seems to be therefore a display only problem since it can't be saved.
Good luck with your detective work!

Thank you for the additional information. Unfortunately there is not much we can do without a example file and a step-by-step instruction how to reproduce this issue. Can you please send us an example file with the instruction to forum(at)softmaker.de? Thank you!

As I say it cannot be saved. I cannot send you a file. I have tried saving at least ten times to no avail.
Unfortunately the changes that occur always seem to be on an earlier page and therefore not visible when it happens, only when scrolling up can it be seen, then try to save and the file is perfect.

I guess this one will have to wait until it happens to you, and it will.

I will try to print it and see if that works, failing that I will try a screen capture.

My mistake. I'm really sorry. John

No problem John, it is all good fun anyway.
I am pleased that you saw the same problem or I am sure nobody would believe me.
