In the "Bullets & Numbering" window, with type set to "Numbering", the simple numbering format options are
1., 2.,
1, 2,
and so on.
I would like to have an option that is a lower case letter followed by a bracket:
a), b),
How can I add this option to the drop-down list?

In the "Format" field, choose "a, b, c, ..." and add ")" in the "After" field. You can save this format as a paragraph style.
