Wow... this is really cool... Not necessarily in a good way, but very cool. It ends at 4096 to be precise. What is even more interesting is that if I use OOo, it find 9068 pages, and using ctrl-end... it zips me right to the end in a fraction of a second. Charles, they're going to start referring to you as "Bug Patrol"

Hello,

currently there is a limit in TextMaker of 4,096 pages and 65,535 paragraphs.

There are already some feature requests for higher limits but it is not easy to implement and in 99% of all cases it just makes no sense for a word processor to open such gigantic documents created by machines.

Thanks for the update. I agree with your comments as well. However it might be an idea to consider a separate product such as a textmaker pro that that might at least read such documents. It would be interesting to see what products are generally associate with these documents. As a field, I think law and/or accounting would commonly see larger documents. I know that that group is not necessarily the target customer, but it is always something to consider in the future ;)

Fortunately for me, TM does the trick. I'm thinking of Teacher's College in the Fall, so I MIGHT need to look at Word, depending on what the College has, but so far, so good.

Interestingly, a school I was attending in Germany used MS. For some reason, students couldn't open PowerPoint with MS PowerPoint... I tried Presentations, saved in pdf... and voilà, everyone could see the presentation... go figure. :)

More often than not, when I get Word documents to edit (especially with some complicated formatting) I do it in TextMaker and save as *.doc again. Much easier than fiddling around with Word.

I agree with you in almost every point. My experiences with and feelings for Word and OOo are exactly the same as yours.
As for the GUI issue, Microsoft at least tried to implement a new approach in 2007 - they just failed totally. Spoken in evolutionary terms, obviously there has been no mutation so far with a survival advantage over the good old menu scheme.
Over the years, I've got to know the SoftMaker developers as rather cautious people who progress in a steady pace and are not prone to frantically packing lots of half-digested features into their programs. And they are really responsive to users' needs and proposals. That's one of the aims of this forum - remember, the boss himself is a regular reader. So I'm quite confident the still lacking points you named will find their way into the program over time.
But we must also remember that users' needs can differ a lot. I'm sure there are many users who never export a PDF form but are in dire need of (e.g.) a "Table of figures" feature or running heads.

It would be cool to be able to make certain toolbars vertical and float or dock left/right. That, I think, would make certain ones better when used in an interactive mode.

I just learned a new thing about textmaker. I never noticed that you could make the toolbars go left or right, NICE =D>

You also can let all the toolbars float. Just try View :arrow2: Toolbars.... There's a "Floating" option in the "Position" field.

Is there a way to toggle a specific toolbar on/off with a shortcut key?

No, there are no shortcut keys to toggle the toolbars on/off but I've sent an feature request for that to our developers.
