I write very long complex reports (typically 20pp to 200+pp, formatted to near-DTP standard and with many graphics and tables), and I am trying to move away from M$Word and use TM2008. If I could do so successfully then I could maybe persuade others to do likewise. A few obstacles prevent me from using TM2008 for my work. The main one is really simple, and quite disappointing. It is that TM2008 displays auto-numbered paragraphs from M$Word with incorrect left-indenting of first-lines. The corollary also applies. Documents created with TM2008 and saved as M$Word files encode auto-numbered paragraphs with first-line indenting information that causes M$Word to indent the text differently.

I have to work with colleagues on the same documents, all of whom use the Micro$oft product. As almost every technical report that anyone in my firm ever writes has auto-numbered paragraphs, and others need to read and sub-edit my reports, I cannot use TM2008, in spite of the fact that I really do want to do so.

I'm really disappointed to receive no feed-back on this fault. It is a small problem but a very inconveninet one for me when I try to work both with M$Word2003 and TM2008. I am an ardent supporter of SoftMaker products but I so wish this incompatibility with Word 2003 could be corrected. I think that at least two software updates have been issued since I drew attention to this problem but I haven't even seen a comment on it. Is it something I said? !

John:

It seems this one of the threads that were overlooked by our support guys, before we installed a new system that tracks all postings, so that none fall between the cracks. I am sorry about that.

I'll get Sven-L on your task.

Hello,

I could reproduce that problem with our current revision 490 and referred this to our developers. I will inform you here as soon as I have more information. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi John,

I'm going to guess it is more a matter of workflow and time. I don't run into the problem you described for example. On the other hand, I might run into something else that you don't consider a problem, because you don't use the product in the way I do.

Just a thought.

Thanks Martin and Sven - I appreciate your help in attending to my problem. This is such a good product that I use it in a way that I have never been able to do with other M$.doc editors.

Jim - I do agree with you and I have no wish to trample over other people's needs. I would be happy to join the back of the queue. All I wanted was actually to be IN the queue because my feedback seems to have gone accidentally unnoticed.

Hi John,

Sorry if my reply sounded abrasive. It wasn't meant to be. I was just thinking of a reason as to why your initial comment might not have received any attention. Ironically after I posted, I noticed the other responses. So... sometimes it's good to be the "squeaky wheel" ;)

Oh, misery, this seems not to have been fixed in ver 493.
Anyone disagree?
I do SO need this bug to be corrected before I can use Texmaker instead of M$Word for all my professional work.

Hello,

I increased the priority for that issue and will inform you here as soon as I have more information.

I see that this irksome bug has survived yet another service update.
It still thrives under ver.494.

I do hope the authors can find it and remove it before too much longer.

Oh, no-oooo. This problem STILL isn't corrected!

I have been pleading with Softmaker for a fix for a whole year. At least three service updates have appeared since I reported this bug without a fix for it. It is so disappointing that it is apparently ignored AGAIN.

It has "fallen between the cracks" at least once before (ie Softmaker forgot about it - see earlier postings in this thread).

It is so very important to me because it completely prevents me from using this fantastic Textmaker software at home for any of the report writing I do in my work, and the problem looks like one that should be really simple to correct. Please, SoftMaker, PLEASE try to remember this bug.

we are still working on a solution but it is not easy to solve that bug. I will inform you here as soon as soon as there are any news.

Thank you Sven.
I am sorry if it is a difficult one and I am grateful for your speedy reply.
It is also reassuring that it is still a live issue at SoftMaker,

Thank you very much for ver.504.
Is there any chance that this bug might be prioritised for 505?

It was well over a year, and many updates ago when I first asked about it.
