Can you explain why Planmaker is so slow to operate. I have been keeping my accounts in Lotus 1-2-3 (Smartsuite 9.5) on a PC with a 1.6 gHz processor and 1gb of ram, running Windows XP. The files are quite simple and consist of up to 50 columns with simple formulas. In this set-up, entering data in a cell, or adding in a column or a row is more or less instantaneous.

I am transferring my accounts to a new laptop which has a 2.2 gHz Core Duo processor and 4gb of ram, running Vista. I have purchased Softmaker as it seems a user-friendly alternative to my Lotus Smartsuite, and Planmaker converts files from it quite happily once I have saved them in Excel 97 format. However, the one drawback is that it takes an inordinately long time to register any changes. To insert a new row or column for example takes literally 4-5 seconds, which if one is working fast is very frustrating.

Is there anything I can do to speed this up? It doesn't seem likely that it's a problem of resident programs running as the laptop is brand new and has very few installed programs. It isn't wholly down to Vista as I had the trial program running on the older PC and Planmaker was almost (though I thought not quite) as slow.

Hello,

can you please send us a example file where you have these performance problems to forum(at) softmaker.de? We have not such huge delay if we insert new cells or rows into a worksheet so it could be just a problem with your files.
