Hello!

I am new to the SoftMaker Office 2008 product. I purchased mine via Ashampoo (build 489.) I am VERY impressed! The ability to use it from a USB stick, along with native PDF creation is awesome!

I do have one question though. I have noticed that if I use Microsoft file formats, the size of the file I am using will grow if I just open the file and then close it. I do not even need to make or save any changes.

An example... I create a new file in PlanMaker. I put some data in it and then save it as a .XLS file. Then, if I open it in PlanMaker again and immediately close it, it has grown in size by 4 k. Needless to say, this is very odd. Over time, this could present some significant problems.

So, my question is, is there some kind of setting I have wrong? Or have I stumbled onto a bug? (Note that I plan to download and install Service Pack 493 as soon as I can.)

Thanks for any help you can give me!

HAN

Hello,

we can't reproduce that bug you described with PlanMaker in rev. 493. Please download and install the latest service Pack here:

http://www.softmaker.com/english/servofw8_en.htm

If the problem persits with the rev. 493, please inform us and send us a example file where we can reproduce that bug.

Thank you!

It is still there. Please keep in mind that I am talking about opening and then immediately closing an XLS file with NO changes... just looking at it. If I do make any changes, the file size appears to behave pretty much normal.

As for a file sample, every file I've tried does it. From a simple one to a fairly large one. I've verified that it happens on 3 PCs already running either MS Office 2002, 2003 or 2007 (using the older file version, not the new Office 2007 format.) When I use MS Office to try to duplicate the issue, the file sizes are unchanged. This is occurring on 3 XP PCs (US/English.) 2 are SP3 (one Pro and one Home) and one is still SP2 (Pro.)

Ok, we now could reproduce that problem. Thank you for the report.

I've referred it to our developers and will inform you as soon as I have new information.

Hello,

the bug has been fixed and does no longer appear in the current Service Pack (revision 494).
