Hi, I just installed FreeOffice on my dad's laptop. He needs to open and edit file that he usually uses on another computer. I have the file in my PC and when I open it it says I'm in a protective mode and asks me if I want to allow editing the file. I approve it and it all works with the standard Microsoft office.
Anyway, when I open the excel file on my dad's laptop using FreeOffice, it says it's for read only and I'm not able to make any edits in the file. Is there any way around it please?
It says the file is for "read only"
Re: It says the file is for "read only"
Thanks for your post. It seems your file is either locked by another program for editing, or it's in Read-only mode.
If any other program is using it already when you are trying to open, please close that program first, then you will be able to edit it in FreeOffice.
If it's in read-only mode, please right-click on the file, click on properties, uncheck read-only and then click Apply>OK.
