I have a problem with some odt files.
When I open one of them in TextMaker 2012 it is treated the same way as if I just created a new file - file name is not displayed in title bar ('Untitled 1' etc. instead) and when I click 'Save' button 'Save as' dialog appear (see attachment). This is a bit annoying because I can't simply save the file (with the same name/path). Instead I have to navigate to correct directory (I'm using portable version and it always wants to write to SoftMaker directory) and overwritte original file.

Strangely but not all odt files are affected by this problem. Most of my odt documents were converted from doc or other formats with TextMaker 2010 (seems that all of them are now treated as 'new' files). So far I've only found one odt file that works correctly (got it from my coleague, but I don't know which office suit she is using, sorry).

I've tested some doc, docx and rtf files - all work OK. I think that only odt behaves this way.

This sounds like a problem we had with older revisions of TextMaker 2012. Please install the latest service pack:

I'm using TextMaker 2012 rev 656.

Edit: After some testing - odt files work without problems if I use 'File -> Open' command. If I try to open them directly (double click on the file) they are treated as 'new' files. This is probably because I use SM Office in portable mode and I made my own file associations. My command to open odt file looks like this:
"<path_to_sm_office>\TextMaker.exe" "%1"
For some reason I can't chang file associations with 'Register file types' dialog.

Help please.

How are you going about trying to make "file association" changes. This should be a straight forward process and has nothing to do with SM products.

Does it mean you use it from a USB stick, or did you create a portable.txt inside the program folder? A portable version does not use the registry for file associations, so this may lead into several problems and you should use File=>Open from the programs to open a file, not a double click.

At first I was using it from USB stick, but it turned out to be very useful so I copied the program folder to my hard drive. I know the portable version doesn't use registry entries for file associations (IIRC version 2010 didn't even had an option to register file types), so I added them manually with Explorer (Tools -> Directory Options -> File types ...or something similar, I use non-english Windows). It worked perfectly with SoftMaker Office 2010 - that's why I have so many odt files even though I rarely use LibreOffice. But now I have this problem

I would suggest to install Office 2012 on your hard drive and check all file associatons in the last dialog of the setup. This should solve the problem.

I deleted my portable SoftMaker Office from the hard drive and did as you suggested. Fresh installation with all file associations checked didn't fixed the problem. Double click won't open odt files in TextMaker properly (using rev 656). Does anyone else experience this issue? Perhaps the fix you mentioned was not included in the latest service pack?

You are correct. The fix is only in the next service pack (which is due quite soon). I am sorry for the confusion.
