In short, with a very small test .rtf docuent, Textmaker 2012 is giving these errors:

Text layout error
The document uses all mono-spaced fonts but the characters fail to line up vertically

Diagram placement error
The diagram has risen up into the text that should be above it

Diagram error 1
All the lines are missing when the rectangle is displayed.
They are in fact hidden behind it.

Diagram error 2
If one removes the.rectangle then TextMaker displays the missing lines, but it fails to handle correctly lines that are back to front, with the left offset is larger than the right offset and/or the top offset larger than the bottom offset.

The problem .rtf dcument is also attached below.

This is not urgent for me, and I am posting this report only in the hope that the attached file will be useful to the Textmaker developers.

Thank you! I will refer the rtf import issues to our developers.

It seems that you are using the font "Courier". Since the font is not installed, a replacement is chosen by Windows. For TextMaker, a non-monospaced font is used. It seems Word doesn't use the Windows algorithm, but something improved. So first, please replace Courier with Courier New.

Problem 1 (The character spacing in the first two lines of the text differs from MS Word 2010):
This looks the same for Courier New

Problem 2 (The characters of the second column of the second paragraph fail to line up vertically):
This is correct for Courier New

Problem 3 (The chart frame has risen up into the text that should be above it):
This looks better for Courier New, but not quite. Biggest problem is that the RTF file is handmade. It doesn't contain any information is to where the objects should be, and which attributes they should have.

Problem 4 (No lines are visible inside the chart. They are (incorrectly) shown when you delete the frame.):
Same solution as problem 3

Lines: The lines are partially painted wrong (always top left to bottom right, although one of them should be bottom left to top right.) We will have a look at it.

Thank you, Sven. I appreciate SoftMaker's taking the trouble to help me with this.
(a) below solves most of my probs. (b) and (c) seem still to be inconsistent, as in my comments below, but please don't take any more trouble over them on my account.

(a) Using Courier-New instead of Courier fixes an error of my own making.

(b) Positioning info in my .rtf file is sparse, I agree, but I don't think it is incorrect, so the layout ought to be interpreted similarly by whatever editor reads it.

(c) I tried reversing the lines on purpose, as a test, and line direction does seem still to be a small problem in obscure situations like the one I tried.
