Sorry to keep on at this, but any updates on beta launches/loose guidelines to likely release dates for 2012?

I would like to purchase, but don't want to buy a 2 yr old version only to have a new one come out shortly thereafter.

Would there be any (heavily heavily) discounted upgrade pricing for people who purchased 2010 now in the instance that this happens? Eg. 'buy now for 69.95 with a free/one cent/$5 upgrade to 2012 when it comes out'

Given Sven's previous post, unless he comes back with a definite statement on discounts, I would suggest waiting for the beta. It does appear from that statement that they intend to come out with one... However if you have a look at the Android forum, I suspect that they want to finish with that prior to starting another project... Not an official statement, just my personal opinion.

Very interested in this, but would like some kind of sketchy guideline as to when 2012 will be ready....will it even be 2012? There have been posts throughout this thread saying 'in the next couple months' - however those date back almost seven months.

I note that the Android beta is out the door (and happily installed on my tablet now, thanks!), so hopefully it's not too far behind it, but some kind of guideline for when we can expect betas/RCs/final versions would be greatly appreciated.

Android development set us back (the wide variety of Android devices is a nightmare to support). Right now, the Linux version is basically done, but we need to fix a few things with installation. As long as Android won't come back with graver issues, the Linux beta should start in a few weeks.

Please keep in mind that the team is working diligently on the Android beta. The reason there is no announcement is... there is nothing to announce. If you follow what is going on with the Android beta, that will likely give you some ideas about when they'll be moving to the next stage of development.

Hope that helps to clarify things a bit.
