I've sometimes wanted to chart data that is not in adjacent columns. This was no problem in Excel, I could just Ctrl-select the column headers, or Ctrl-select the actual ranges of values to be used for the chart.

If I do this in Planmaker then the chart wizard doesn't really get the right idea about the data that I want to chart. Excel seems to get it right though, using the 1st column as my x-axis and the other column(s) as my y-axis.

I know I can manually set the ranges of cells in the "Series tab" for the x-axis and y-axis but that can be a hassle if the end cells are not easily visible (making manual typing of references tricky). Even mouse selection of the precise selection for required cells can be labourious if the columns are really long.

Is this an issue that will be improved do you think? Maybe I should be doing this in a slightly different way?

Hello,

please have a look at the attached file. If I select A1 to A13 with the mouse (no need to press CTRL for that) and then insert the chart, all data seems to appear properly. Is that what you mean?

Hi Sven,

Thanks for your reply. I agree that it works fine when the columns are adjacent, but it doesn't work if I only select the columns that I want to chart, eg column A and C. It seems to not want to chart anything at all if I only have A and C selected. As another example, I may have some data where I only want to chart column D (on x-axis) and column Z (on y-axis). This is fine in excel but in planmaker then I need to manually edit the entries in the "series" tab of the chart properties. Your example works fine because all the charted data is in adjacent columns.

I hope that makes sense.

Cheers

Ok, you're right #-o

I asked our developers if this is a bug or just not yet supported by PlanMaker. I wil lanswer you as soon as I have more information.

It seems that this feature is not yet supported. It is on the agenda for future versions.

That is a little disappointing. From your reply I assume that the next service pack is due to out shortly.

It's a missed opportunity to not include fixes for known bugs in a new release :-(
