When I try to move part of some text to another position using drag-and-drop, it damages the text. See the attached example, which includes my explanation.

thank you for the sample file. But I cannot reproduce your problem with my system.
Here I can use "drag & drop" and everything works fine.

Maybe it helps if you install the software once again.

I've just read in the same test file and tried it again. Exactly the same result as I described.
My copy of TM is working fine in all all other respects, with no sign of anything wrong with its installation, so do I really HAVE to re-install, because I am just so, so busy at the moment.

Did you open the test file, use the mouse pointer to paint-select teh highlighted word, wait half a second, then click on the selected text and drag it one word space to the right and let go? If so then there is something different between your computer's program execution and mine but I can't imagine why.

Can anyone try it and see if others find either the same problem as me or, like you, no problem?

I can reproduce John's issue. When I select the first ('M&E') with the mouse, wait a moment and drag it to the right so that the cursor is immediately before "systems", the result is "engineer ('M&E') ing" instead of "engineering ('M&E') systems", just as described by John.

this will be fixed in the next service pack.

As a temporary measure, open the TextMaker and use the menu: Tools > Options > Edit > Selecting & pasting. Please deactivate the option "Add or remove spaces when pasting".
