I use SmartText to produce superscript replacement for date suffixes. The space has to be removed between the date and the suffix (which has already been dealt with elsewhere), which means that the cursor must be moved there and then put back to continue typing.
Continued typing can then be in superscript if the cursor is misplaced. OK.

When trying to remove it retyping reproduces the same issue. So I highlight the superscript and select the original paragraph style. It does not remove it.
I select Format Paragraph-Character and find that Superscript is not ticked and so I cannot remove it. Ticking it and then removing it did not work either.
Deleting the text and clicking at the end causes the same problem as with bold etc. it hangs on into the next character.
I hope this makes sense.

This is linked to another problem I mentioned some time ago regarding bold hanging over to the next character.

removing the superscript can be done through Format=>Standard.

Format=>Paragraph handles options for the whole paragraph. Superscript is usually done for few characters, so this is done through Format=>Character and the character's normal style.
