I have a Word 2007 (.doc) with a scanned image. I open it in TM and can move the image. I select the image because I want it copied to another place or page or even another document. I cannot paste it because as soon as a picture frame is selected in Object mode I am asked for the file. (I might not have it any more, only the image).
I can paste it in Text mode but of course cannot move it.

I discovered that I can paste it in Object Mode into a Text frame but then have the problems of formatting the frame to try to fit the picture etc.

Is there a way to make the text frame auto fit the size of the picture?
Is there a way to produce a Picture frame without the file dialog?

Thanks.
[EDIT] PS
Of course when the .doc is open in text mode the picture can be moved in Text mode.
I note that once the picture is pasted, the text box can be moved but there is a significant delay in it appearing in the new position, despite having 4GB of ram.

[Edit Edit] Lack of response suggests I must re-examine this and do tests.

Hello,

it should be possible to select the picture frame, press CTRL+C, open a new file and press CTRL+V to paste the same picte frame into a new file (or a new page). There is no file dialog if I switch between text mode and object mode via View=>Object mode in the toolbar.

Thanks for responding. The problem is when the image is not already in a frame. I understand ctrl-c & v for copy-paste. Suppose it comes from say a word doc and I do not have the original image and it is not in a frame.

Separately, I cannot find a way to paste into a picture frame because it always asks for the file name, I can do it in a text frame.

You can save it as image on your hard disc and then create a new picture frame and choose the image. If you just copy and paste a image from a doc file into a new file in textmaker it is not a frame.

I'm not sure if I have misunderstood what Mr/Miss Donone is trying to do but in case it helps, I've found that one can simply move the cursor to the required position in text-editing, not object mode, and press Ctrl-V. It's not necessary to insert a frame to receive it.

I am aware that the picture can be pasted as text, but I want the picture in a frame so that it has free movement. As soon as a frame is attempted you cannot paste because of the dialog.
The picture could for example be in a MS Publisger document or any other like Pagemaker, where the picture itself is not available.
Put more simply I suppose is simply to say why is it not possible to paste a picture that is free moving.

I'm not sure I understand the problem.

#1 If you paste an image in text mode, it becomes a picture that moves with the surrounding text, like a large character.

#2 If you paste in object mode, it becomes a picture frame that can be moved anywhere with the mouse. Additionally, such a picture frame may be anchored to a paragraph, so that it moves when the paragraph moves.

If you paste into a text frame, that's like case #1, with limited moving options.

I must have missed something somewhere, the answer has now been provided. I had misunderstood something and was following the path that Object Mode required a frame and text Mode did not. I have picked up the comment that pasting direct in Object Mode is what I actually need. Thank you.
