Well, let me explain my question then. I understood that track change colours are global settings in Word and it depends on these settings how track changes in documents are displayed. So, when I make changes in a Word document with MS Word and afterwards open it with another Word installation which has different settings, track changes will be displayed in colours different from those on the computer I first worked with. If I am not mistaken and this is what happened to your document, the only way to influence this issue would be to change the Word settings on the second computer (your daughter's, I presume). Please correct me if I got something wrong here.

Sorry, I thought I responded, but, when I checked I must not have saved the response. You are partially correct and that is MS Word's Track Changes are global and the colors need to be set with each document. If I understand correctly in TextMaker they are document settings and stored in the document. MS Word, does not know about this setting so, no matter what I do in word, it will not display the changes in the document. However, the changes do appear in the summary.

I cannot reproduce this with Word 2010. When I save in TextMaker as DOCX and load the file in Word 2010, the deletions and insertions are shown just like in TextMaker.

In Word 2010, go to the Review tab. There is a dropdown that says either "Final" or "Final: Show markup". Be sure that the latter is chosen. The former hides the tracked changes.

Hi Martin - Thanks for your suggestions. I went back to check my MS Word settings and they are as you described. The Track Changed document shows things underlined but does not show the deleted items crossed out, or have any color. This was a Word created document, edited and saved with Textmaker. I am attaching the document to this post, when I previously posted the document on this forum others had the same problem as me.

Thanks for your help.
