hello,
i'm trying to run planmaker on slackware 13.0 but the app never will completely open. i've tried removing .softmaker and restarting planmaker but i get the same results. Also, textmaker and presentation both open just fine. BTW, my documents folder and .softmaker and Softmaker folders are on an nfs. i've attached a screenshot.

Hello,

there's not much we can do here if a complete new installation does not solve this problem because there will no more Service Packs for SoftMaker Office 2008 for Linux. Please try it again with SoftMaker Office 2010 for Linux which we will release within the next months. As a owner of the full version of SoftMaker Office 2008 you will receive a free upgrade.

Hi!

I'm using SoftMaker Office 2008 on Puppy Linux (Lupq 5.1.1). Everything works fine except, as I run the planmaker2008 it indicates that I run it for the first time. I tried to modify the settings and save them, but it didn't solved the problem, as I run the planmaker again, it gives me an error message again:

Sorry for the unreadable language but I'm an hungarian user. :D
The error message means about that: You'r running the planmekar for the first time as user 'root'. The needed files and the settings will be saved in folder :~/.softmaker. The default documnet folder is: /root/SoftMaker. The default templates forlder is: /root/SoftMaker/Templates.

I tried it on other linux distributins as Ubunutu, Suse, and PclInuxOS, and got the same effect.
The textmaker2008 and the Presentations2008 works fine anyway.

Could you give me any advise how to fix that error?

Thanks in advance
Zsola

Are you working with root permissions to write in the /root? Does the same happen if you try to start PlanMaker 2010?

HI!

Thanks for your kind replay!
Yes, I'm working as root because of Puppy Linux. Puppy runs in single user mode, thus you are root. The textmaker2008 and presentations2008 has no problem with the config files, just the planmaker2008.
Should I check the permission settings of planmaker's config files?

Ok I'll try the planmaker2010 tonight.

Dear Sven,

Yesterday I tried the SoftmakerOffice2010trial on PuppyLinux. I installed the .deb package. The situations is worse then in the case of Office2008. Both the textmaker2010, the planmaker2010 and the presentations2010 produced the same error on every start. "You are running it for the first time as user 'root'......."
The interesting is that as I alter any setting (turn of the Tips, or something else) it saves it, so the config files are working. Hmmmmm :?:

Anyway I tried the Office2008 (the .rpm one) on PcLinuxOs 2010 too as a normal user, and the effect is the same as on PuppyLinux. The planmaker2008 says on every start "this is the first time.....".
The textmaker2008 and the presentations2008 are working correctly.
Should I alter any settings on the config files? And if yes one which one?
Do you have any idea?

I asked the developers and will report here as soon as I have an answer.

The problem is that the default PlanMaker template is not installed for Hungarian.
This will be fixed in a newer release of SoftMaker Office 2010 for Linux.

As a workaround, you can do the following:
- Start PlanMaker
- Choose File=>Save as
- Select as type "PlanMaker template (*.pmv)
- Choose as file name "Normál.pmv"
- Save the file
- Now choose File=>New
- Select the file you just saved
- Press the "Set as default" button (This file will be the default template now)

-> You won't be asked the next start
