Installing SoftMaker Office 2016 for Linux

Overview

SoftMaker Office 2016 for Linux comes with the following installation archives:

Please review the following instructions for installing SoftMaker Office 2016 for Linux on common Linux distributions.

Ubuntu

Tested with: Ubuntu 15.10 (64 bit), Ubuntu 15.10 (32 bit), Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (64 bit), Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (32 bit)

Download softmaker-office-2016_752-01_i386.deb. Then open a terminal or shell window and enter the following commands:

sudo dpkg -i softmaker-office-2016_752-01_i386.deb
sudo apt-get install -f

Debian

Tested with: Debian 8 (64 bit)

Download softmaker-office-2016_752-01_i386.deb. Then open a root terminal (either by clicking on its desktop icon or by opening a shell and entering su).

On 64-bit systems only, enter this command:

dpkg --add-architecture i386

Then enter these commands on all systems:

apt-get update 
dpkg -i softmaker-office-2016_752-01_i386.deb 
apt-get install -f

openSUSE

Tested with: openSUSE Leap 42.1 (64 bit)

Download softmaker-office-2016-752.x86_64.rpm. Then open a terminal or shell window.

Refresh the repositories:

sudo zypper refresh

Due to a bug in openSUSE Leap 42.1, you cannot simply double-click on the RPM file to install it. Instead, you must install it from the terminal:

sudo zypper --non-interactive install softmaker-office-2016-752.x86_64.rpm

When you start SoftMaker Office, you might receive a message about a missing libudev.so.1 or libudev.so.0 file. You can ignore this message.

Linux Mint

Tested with: Linux Mint 17.2 (64 bit), Linux Mint 17.2 (32 bit), Linux Mint 17.3 (64 bit), Linux Mint 17.3 (32 bit)

Download softmaker-office-2016_752-01_i386.deb. Then open a terminal or shell window and enter the following commands:

sudo dpkg -i softmaker-office-2016_752-01_i386.deb 
sudo apt-get install -f

When you start SoftMaker Office, you might receive a warning about a missing theme engine. Ignore this message, SoftMaker Office does not use the theme engine.

CentOS

Tested with: CentOS 7 (64 bit)

Download softmaker-office-2016-752.x86_64.rpm. Double-click on the RPM file to install SoftMaker Office.

Then download the file additional-softmaker-office-redhat-2016.noarch.rpm and double-click on it to install it, too.

Fedora

Tested with: Fedora 23 (64 bit), Fedora 23 (32 bit)

For 64-bit Fedora systems, download the two installation archives softmaker-office-2016-752.x86_64.rpm and additional-softmaker-office-redhat-2016.noarch.rpm. Then open a terminal or shell window and enter the following commands:

sudo dnf install softmaker-office-2016-752.x86_64.rpm
sudo dnf install additional-softmaker-office-redhat-2016.noarch.rpm

For 32-bit Fedora systems, download the installation archive softmaker-office-2016-752.i386.rpm. Then open a terminal or shell window and enter the following command:

sudo dnf install softmaker-office-2016-752.i386.rpm

Mageia

Tested with: Mageia 5 (64 bit), Mageia 5 (32 bit)

For 64-bit Mageia systems, download softmaker-office-2016-752.x86_64.rpm

For 32-bit Mageia systems, download softmaker-office-2016-752.i386.rpm

Double-click on the respective RPM file, and SoftMaker Office will be installed.
